Stories of the 80s and 90s #2

I was going to do this weekly but my inner artist works in spurts. I might give you 2-3 posts in a week and you not hear from me for a week or 2. So get ready for the inconsistency. I would type it out in word then paste on the day I'm suppose to post but I know me I'll put that thing through edit hell and it will not be the same so here is #2 in the series. Remember I don't go in chronological order, that's boring :)

Most of the 90s after I graduated out of high school I worked at O'hare Airport with Andy Frain and then Argenbright when they took over the contract. I tried college before I worked at the airport but being away from home in Arkansas was a little much for me. I had more fun than doing work so I ended up back home after a year, working.

I tried to go back to Arkansas in 1992, didn't work I didn't like it. When I actually focused on doing the work I realized I don't like being here. So I went back home. enrolled in Harold Washington College to get some basic classes out of the way. Then I tried Devry.

That was an experience. I encountered this programming teacher that gave a speech about how she was the only one that taught cobol and you can't avoid me. Then tells us she has seniority over the department head so you can't complain to them. I'm like what the hell is this.

Then next thing was when class was over. You know how people clock watch and start putting stuff in their backpacks or just start closing up stuff. She says to the room. You have t keep taking notes til the end don't put anything up. So class ended she darted out of the room. We are all lets go to her desk and ask her questions. We walk out the room down the hall to her desk, no teacher. We as the other person that was at the next desk. He pointed out the window at the car pulling out the parking space. You gotta be kidding.

So I came up with a plan. I told some of my classmates I befriended I would make sure I leave right when she leaves and catch her at her desk. The plan worked, she was hustling down the hall turned around and saw me and sighed. I asked my one question and held her there long enough for everyone else to show up.

Next class, she was watching me cause as I went to do the same thing she said 'don't pack up so soon, class is not over yet." So I looked around at my classmates they caught my jester and one of them did what I did. It worked again.

So again at the next class she is working to see who is going to be the one to catch her. I can't believe she is working so hard not to do her job. So other groups of people in the class caught on and so when she left there were multiple people in tow. Gotcha!!

After that class i was like if she is here I'm sure there are more like her. I don't wanna be here. So I left Devry. Now I got a story about post Devry dealing with the financial aid department. I'll save that for a later post.

See ya next time. ....
